Astrology for the New Year
CLASS INFORMATION
This is a 2 part class series facilitated by myself and Naike Swai of Chagga Star Astrology . This offering is to honor the change of our calendar and get to know the planetary characters with whom we share the cosmos. The first session will be a chance to look back at 2023 in order to reflect and distill the most important lessons we want to carry forward. We will guide reflection specifically on some of the most significant transits of 2023; Saturn entering Pisces, the Venus Retrograde and the end of the Taurus Scorpio eclipses. The second session will be an opportunity to look ahead at the major planetary shifts of 2024 and begin to plan and align with the natural rhythms of the year. We will be doing some story telling together and what we are calling Transit Theatre! These are creative forms that allow us to connect to the clarity and insights that lay just under the surface of our consciousness, and explore astrological and mythical archetypes in our lives. Creative approaches to astrology can support a more personal connection that is quite concrete, deeply felt and instructive. All levels of astrology are welcome.
Co-Facilitator Naike-Swai
Naike Swai is a healing arts practitioner, musician and astrologer of Tanzanian and German heritage. Their interest in studying the vibratory imprint of nature’s forces on our mind and body led them into the practice of classical acupuncture, sound healing and astrology. Whereas acupuncture provides a somatic map of how our bodies digest the experiences of life, astrology lays out a wondrous fabric of the cosmic clock and how the planet's resonant influences shape our individual and collective lives. - each thread representing the planetary patterns that dress and move us. In their readings Naike weaves these strands together. A graduate from the Portland School of Astrology, their focus lies in decolonizing astrology and connecting to the transformative liberation inherent in our natal charts.

I use interactive activities, creative writing, visualizations and short lectures as ways to learn and process. Learning happens thru our heart, intuition, mind, imagination, and spirit.
We are always working through harmful internalized messages about teaching and learning from school. We must become more aware of these so we can continue to learn and honor our minds and inherent intelligence.
Carving out time for personal reflection is essential for integrating the astrology you are learning.
My intention is to create a heart centered space. An opportunity to take off some masks, release some armor and confront the changes that are here or on their way with courage and compassion. You’ll be invited to show up with video on as much as possible.

I will also offer reflection activities each week to deepen your own understanding of your Saturn placement. I will also hold Office Hours 2 or 3 times during the course of the series.
WEEK 1 - SETTING THE CONTAINER - some community building, overview of the 27ish year Saturn cycle and Saturn in Pisces. Getting familiar with our Inner Critic .
WEEK 2 - SATURN IN A HOUSE - exploring the layer of house topics.
WEEK 3 - Mini Readings will be scheduled for everyone to have 1-1 attention.
WEEK 4 - ASPECTS - exploring which planets your Saturn is in connection with and how this modifies parts of your personality.
WEEK 5 - INTEGRATION - we will cover special topics and have a chance to integrate thru creative activities and discussion.
WEEK 6 - INTENTIONS - Opportunity to set goals, release certain narratives from your inner critic and practice accountability.

Giselle Castaño is an astrologer and lover of the stars. Giselle committed to her study of the stars in 2012 in queer community and with the guidance of Deborah Singletary based in Harlem, NY. Giselle’s approach to astrology is a combination of traditional and modern astrological techniques, as well as cosmologies from their ancestral lineages from Central Mexico and Eastern Europe. Giselle is committed to offering astrology that supports people in attuning to natural cycles of time including seasonal earth time as well as planetary cycles. WEEK 5 - ASPECTS - exploring which planets your Saturn is in connection with and how this modifies parts of your personality.
WEEK 6 - SYNTHESIS & INTENTIONS - Opportunity to set goals, do some synthesizing and close up!

THE CLASS:
This is a 5 week astrology class in honor of friendship. The quality of our friendships plays a huge role in our overall wellness as well as the stability and wellness of our community. Now more than ever, our communities need strong friendships and deep solidarity to weather our modern day social and environmental crises.
In this class we will explore how astrology can promote deeper understanding and intimacy between 2 friends committed to growing their relationship. You will get a chance to explore each other's astrological signatures together using the language of the stars! We hope this class can help individuals in a committed relationship understand the nature of their connection & chemistry, their challenges and possible resolutions to difficult dynamics.
What kinds of friends are welcome? All kinds! Sometimes, if we’re lucky, our friends become our family. And sometimes, miraculously, our family members can become our friends, too. Friends of all shapes and types welcome. Together, we’ll honor your origin stories and your continued evolution.

LiZhen and Giselle have been best friends since 2003. They have weathered many storms together, lived together, been long distance friends, worked together, and traveled together. Astrology is one of many things they share and are so delighted to be teaching a class series together.

What is the Saturn Return?
This is a deep exploration of one of the most significant astrological transits in the lifetime. We will explore various themes that characterize this transit that happens around the late 20’s/early 30’s, late 50’s/early 60’s and the late 80’s/early 90’s. The first Saturn Return tends to be the most dramatic, shifting most if not all of the major structural parts of your life. Work, home, relationship to parents & home. Saturn’s mission is to express and process themes of authority, commitment, accountability, and our family/cultural conditioning. If you are not going through your Saturn Return, you are still welcome to register. Please keep in mind that we will be focused primarily on Saturn in Aquarius.
